ERA is a friendly and informal astronomical society. We have approximately 2 dozen members of all ages. Our main purpose is to observe the night sky and to help others get into this absorbing hobby. We have been operating from our current base in Beverley for more than 10 years. From 5th February 2018 we are moving to a new site at Woodmansey Village Hall where we hope to enjoy much darker skies as well as a larger car park. In addition we have a traditional observing site in the country, away from street lights, at Arras Hill above Sancton. This is a site we chose to use some 16 years ago. We have also opened up a second venue at Crabley Lane near Broomfleet which can provide dark skies but with a risk of river fog invading at certain times of the year. ERA is a society of all, ages, abilities and gender so whatever your interest you should fit in. In short – pay us a visit – we will probably show you something new.

Another stunning entry in our competition

Come on down to Woodmansey Village Hall on any 1st Monday of the month (except June and July). You will be assured of a warm welcome and a view of the sky, weather permitting, through any of a large range of telescopes.

ERA meet every 1st Monday of the month at the Village Hall in Woodmansey (midway between Hull and Beverley.
