Many of you will have seen and enjoyed Laurence Anslow’s presentation on “Star Theatres – The History of the Planetarium” earlier this year and will, in particular, recall his discussion of the newly built planetarium at the Winston Churchill School. Last evening, Farnham Astronomical Society accepted Laurence’s kind invitation to see the planetarium for ourselves (possibly the only facility of its kind in a state school in the UK) and to enjoy a tour of the night sky, two films and a private demonstration of the facilities.

And so we met in the new “Discovery Space” building, which boasts a bright and spacious library downstairs with the planetarium and IT facilities on the first floor. Laurence introduced us to Matt Elliott – an affable young undergraduate and ex-student of the school who was our guide for the evening.

Our meetings are held on the second Tuesday of every month at: Aldershot Cricket Club Guildford Road Aldershot Hants GU12 4BP Parking is available adjacent to the cricket club The venue opens 7.30pm for a 7.45 start.
