The Ilkeston & District Astronomical Society (IDAS) is a friendly group of active astronomers from beginners to seasoned hands. All newcomers are very welcome.One popular aspect of astronomy is photography. The bright star in this picture is the left-hand star in Orion’s belt, Alnitak, some 800 light-years distant.
