Our aim is to spread knowledge of the life, work, and times of Herschel and his family, and to encourage greater understanding today of the subjects he studied.
We do this in several ways:
- We support the Herschel Museum of Astronomy in Bath in the house where he made many of his discoveries
- We encourage research into Herschel’s life and publications
- We arrange Astronomy Lectures in Bath in collaboration with the BRLSI, the University of Bath, and others
- We organise astronomical observing events through Bath Astronomers
- We support other local educational activities such as Bath Taps into Science
- We support the performance and recording of Herschel’s music
- We send our 6-monthly Journal to all Members
We always welcome new members. You can join online now using our subscriptions partner membermojo or download and complete our Application Form and post it to us at the Herschel Museum of Astronomy.
As a registered UK charity, the Society is naturally very happy to receive donations at any time! Any amount sent to us over and above your subscription will be treated as a donation. If you are a UK taxpayer you can increase the value of your subscription by 25% by signing the Gift Aid Declaration Form.
