The society was originally founded in 1975 when a group of friends from a works Social Club got together and called themselves the Phoenix Astronomical Society. Then in 1976 this society changed to a more formal arrangement and was renamed the Bradford Astronomical Society.
The Society meets at 7:30pm on alternate Monday evenings throughout the year at Eccleshill Library, Bolton Road, Bradford BD2 4SR. We pride ourselves in the quality of our speakers who are always either a professional or some well-known amateur. Occasionally we have a quiz or a members’ night when we get a chance to give short talks, discuss latest ideas or present our deep sky observations and photographs
